We believe that a great sire is only half the equation.
Meet one of the Brood Mares of Gaslight Farm......

Gaslight Cinderella
*Ceulan Lwcus LOM/AOE/OD x Chaparral's Crystal LOM/AOE
2006 Section A Mare - WPCSA #A41251
Full sister of Gaslight Chwyrlwynt LOM/AOE/OD

Cinderella was the last foal produced by our foundation mare, and a full sister to our most illustrious pony, Gaslight Chwyrlwynt LOM/AOE/OD. Although Crystal had produced many foals by other stallions that went on to be excellent performers, it wasn't until she was crossed with *Ceulan Lwcus that we had the "golden cross." Chwyrlwynt was Crystal's first daughter and purchased from us by our trainer, Carrie MacWhorter, who liked her so much she did not want to have the pony sold. What Carrie and "Wendy" did together was legendary.

Crystal's next foal, a colt, was aborted at 300 days, which was the beginning of a difficult period for us. We struggled to keep her next pregnancies intact. She foaled a loudly marked chestnut filly who we named Gaslight Carnival Queen, and because we had maxed out what we could keep at our southern California location, she was sold to a friend who showed her to a "leg" for her sire and dam's LOMs. Queen is owned by MaiLei Bennett and used in her riding program.

Crystal was 23 when she foaled Cinderella. As much trouble as we had keeping her from aborting, we knew this was likely her last foal. Cinderella was actually foaled on the same day as our granddaughter, Haley. Darci and I were driving to Arizona to be there for her birth, but Crystal gave us a surprise that morning instead. As soon as we knew that mom and baby were OK, we made the drive and arrived in time for the blessed event. Ben and Shannon are Disney addicts, and Darci works for Disney, so Cinderella seemed like an appropriate name for the little chestnut filly that probably arrived at the stroke of midnight!

Cinderella was shown once as a foal, then set aside, while we concentrated on other ponies. When we relocated to our present location in Oregon, Cinderella was turned out to pasture with the other mares, where she blossomed into a lovely mare, full of old-style Type, with tremendous substance. We were amazed at the difference that having access to pasture and all the exercise makes for our youngstock!

In 2011, to help fill some classes at our new Southern Oregon Welsh club, we brought Cinderella out to show in hand. She surprised us by placing first in Section A mares, and the comments from other exhibitors, wondering "where have you been keeping this one?"

At the end of 2011, we imported our new palomino Section A colt, *Ceulan Cappuccino, to be the out-cross stallion for our Lwcus daughters. Cinderella was still a maiden mare and coming 6, so we decided to cover her in the late Spring of 2012. Amazingly, this cross was reserved almost as soon as we decided to make it! Just as her dam produced the first foal for her sire, *Ceulan Lwcus LOM/AOE/OD, Cinderella may produce the first foal for *Ceulan Cappuccino. We certainly hope that the tradition of creating legends is a family thing!
